Custom Properties - Overview

When navigating through the Suppliers page, you'll notice some standard fields such as Legal Name, Owner, and Status. These are default properties that come pre-configured with Vendr, allowing you to track key information easily across the system.

However, Vendr offers more flexibility beyond these out-of-the-box options. Administrators can enhance data management by creating custom properties tailored to Suppliers, Products, and Agreements.

Visibility and Usability of Custom Properties

Custom properties are seamlessly integrated, appearing alongside default properties in various interfaces:

  • Supplier, Product, and Agreement tables

  • Individual Property tabs for deeper insights into a specific Supplier, Product, or Agreement

These custom fields can be utilized similarly to default ones:

  • They can be used as column headers in table views

  • They serve as filters within those tables to streamline data sorting and retrieval

Manage Your Custom Properties

Custom properties can be managed within the Data Management section under Admin settings, where you can:

  • Create, modify, or archive properties for Suppliers, Products, and Agreements

Create a Custom Property

Creating a new custom property is straightforward:

  1. Navigate to the Custom Properties page.

  2. Choose to either add a new property to an existing group or start a new group.

  3. Input the property name, select its type (e.g., Text, Date, Dropdown), and optionally provide a description.

  4. Save your changes

If you've already created at least one custom property, you can either

  • Add group and then add a new property within that group

  • Add a new property within an existing group

Property Groups

Groups are simply a way to organize your properties - so all your finance properties, for example, might be in one group, while all your security properties might be in another.

Properties will be organized by their group when you look at the Properties tab within the details of a Supplier, Product, or Agreement.

Edit a Custom Property

  1. Click the Name of an existing property to edit it

  2. Edit the Name, Description, and/or Type

  3. Click Save

Archive a Custom Property

Caution: Archive is instant and permanent!

  • There is no confirmation that you want to archive a property after you click Archive, it just archives the property

  • There is no ability to recover archived properties

Be very sure you want to archive a custom property before you do so.

  1. Click the Name of an existing property to edit it

  2. Click Archive
